Men's Cross Country Secures Top Regionals Finish in 15 Years

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's cross country team had its best showing at a regional championship in 15 years on Saturday, as the Purple Knight men and women concluded their seasons with the NCAA East Regional Championship at Roberts Wesleyan College.

TEAM RESULTS

  • The Saint Michael's men placed 12th among 24 schools, totaling 368 points. They had last finished as high as 12th at regionals in 2011, when they tied for that spot. They most recently were 12th by themselves in 2006, at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship. The Purple Knights had their lowest point total at regionals since that 2006 season, when they totaled 303.
  • The Purple Knight women were 16th out of 24 teams, netting 386 points, their fewest at regionals since 2014. The placement was their second-best since that 2014 campaign.
  • Eleven of the 14 Saint Michael's harriers PRed, with six on the men's side and five on the women's.
  • The American International College men (25) and women (42) won the team championships. The AIC men are ranked 19th in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) national poll, while their women are receiving votes.
