Women's cross country finishes third at Middlebury's five-school Aldrich Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's cross country team returned from a two-week layoff with a third-place finish among five schools at Middlebury College's Aldrich Invitational on Saturday.

The host Panthers, who are ranked seventh in Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), won the meet with 15 points, while the Purple Knights scored 84, trailing Northeast-10 Conference counterpart Le Moyne College by 20.

Junior Molly Roush (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton Central School) paced Saint Michael's by claiming 18th in the 5K race, clocking in at 21:35, while first-year Emily Calder (Hopkinton, N.H./Hopkinton) was three spots back in 21:47. Senior Brianna McKinley (Moultonborough, N.H./Moultonborough Academy) took 26th by crossing the finish line at 22:26, and sophomore Roxy Withers (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) stood one second back to finish 28th. First-year Amy Duclos (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) rounded out the Purple Knights' top five in 36th thanks to a time of 23:00.

Both Purple Knight squads return to action next Saturday when they host the NE-10 Preview Meet, with the women beginning at 9:45 a.m. and the men's race starting 45 minutes later. Saint Michael's last hosted a meet on campus in 2012.
