Boutelle wins third straight meet, women capture second victory of fall

POULTNEY, Vt. - Junior Chloe Boutelle (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) won her third straight race in a meet-record 18:52, and the Saint Michael's College women's cross country team won the Green Mountain College Invitational on Saturday during its first meet since Oct. 5. The women earned a perfect score of 15 points in the eight-school meet, while the men were third (62), trailing only the State University of New York at Cobleskill (49) and Castleton State College (51). The women also captured the team title at the Sept. 28 Vermont Intercollegiate Championship.

Boutelle paced the 89-runner 5K field, and her three single-season wins are now one short of Lynda Dunn's '86 1984 school record. Junior Lindy Heffernan (Sutton Mills, N.H./Kearsarge Regional) was second in 19:14, classmate Colleen Gilliatt (Grantham, N.H./Lebanon) third at 19:19, and junior Allie Gratton (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) fourth in 19:34. Senior Daniela Czark (New York, N.Y./The Elan School) took fifth with a time of 20:19, and classmate Mary Miller (Aurora, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) placed seventh. First-year Alison Bourgeois (Georgia, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) was ninth, and senior Elena Bilodeau (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood Union) placed 10th. All 24 Purple Knights finished in the top 55 during the race.

On the men's side, junior Peter McKenna (Cohasset, Mass./Brooks School) was fifth during the 4.8-mile race in 25:51, and classmate Alex Gilgore (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville Senior) nabbed seventh at 26:23. Senior Dana Glubiak (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) was 11th at 26:58, junior Erik Hoiseth (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) placed 18th in 27:42, and sophomore Jake Jarecki (Monroe, Conn./Saint Joseph) was 25th with a time of 28:44.

Both Purple Knight teams head to Saint Anselm College next Sunday for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The men's race begins at 10 a.m., and the women follow at 11 a.m.
