Women's Tennis Loses to Regionally-Ranked Le Moyne

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's tennis team lost to regionally-ranked Le Moyne College, 7-0, on Tuesday during Northeast-10 Conference play at the SMC Tennis Courts. The Dolphins were seventh in last year's final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll.

THE ACTION

  • Le Moyne won all three doubles matches to take the opening point, including as senior Elly McKenna (Lowell, Mass./Lowell Catholic) and junior Ava Albis (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) sided at No. 1 while falling against the seventh-ranked tandem in the region.
  • Junior Bree Cotroneo (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury Union) had the Purple Knights' tightest singles match, losing by a 6-3, 6-2 count in the No. 3 spot.
  • Senior Abby Edelmann (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) picked up a pair of games at No. 2, while McKenna claimed one at No. 4. First-year Emma Posada (Peru, N.Y./Peru) appeared higher than No. 6 for the first time, playing in the fifth spot.
