COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse senior defender Annie Martin (Mattapoisett, Mass./Bishop Stang) landed a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, April 21. It was her first accolade of the season.
Martin displayed her versatility with nine ground balls, seven draw controls and five caused turnovers last week. She notched six ground balls and two caused turnovers during a 23-16 loss to Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday before collecting seven draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers in an 8-7, double-overtime loss to American International College on Saturday.
This season Martin has posted career highs in caused turnovers (29) and ground balls (36), while registering 45 draw controls. She is tied for seventh in the NE10 in caused turnovers and ground balls, while being tied for second in caused turnovers and tied for third in ground balls during league play. She also sits in 25th in Division II in caused turnovers per game (2.23). Her 29 caused turnovers are the fourth most in a single season by a Purple Knight. Martin holds the program mark for career caused turnovers (92), while sitting in second in draw controls (138) and ninth in ground balls (118).
The Purple Knights, who are 3-10 overall and 1-10 in the NE10, go on the road to play Stonehill College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
