COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey sophomores Jenna Hoops (Woodbury, Minn./Saint Paul United) and Carissa Mudrak (Duluth, Minn./Gentry Academy) were both named to the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 21. Each landed her second accolade of the season.
Hoops had one assist and three blocks while winning 52.6% (20-for-38) of her faceoffs in two games against Sacred Heart University over the weekend. She was an identical 10-for-19 at the dot on both Friday and Saturday, adding a secondary assist to a go-ahead power-play goal at 12:28 of the first period in a 6-3 loss on Saturday. Hoops leads the team in faceoff winning percentage (55.1%) for the season, going 54-for-98, while tacking on one goal, two assists and seven blocked shots. She is 15th in the NEWHA in faceoff wins.
Mudrak made a career-high 56 saves in a 6-3 loss to Sacred Heart on Saturday, coming within one save of the program's all-time top 10. Mudrak averages a league-high 37.3 saves with a .871 save percentage through four games, all starts.
The Purple Knights, now 0-9 overall and 0-8 in the NEWHA, take on the State University of New York at Potsdam for a home-and-home weekend, with Friday's opener in Potsdam, N.Y., at 5 p.m. The teams face off at Cairns Arena in South Burlington on Saturday at 4 p.m.
