COLCHESTER, Vt. - In the teams' first meeting, the Saint Michael's College women's basketball team downed Bryant & Stratton College - Albany (N.Y.), 84-46, on Tuesday evening in the Ross Sports Center.

GAME FACTS

  • The Purple Knights handed out 26 assists on 33 baskets while committing only eight turnovers. They last had so few giveaways on Dec. 18, 2019, with seven against Assumption University. They recorded their most assists since tying a school record with 33 on Dec. 16, 2018, versus Vermont Technical College.
  • Saint Michael's had a dramatic 62-39 rebounding advantage, including 20-9 on the offensive glass, holding its largest rebounding edge since outrebounding Post University by 28 on Dec. 9, 2014. That was also the last time the Purple and Gold had 62 rebounds, and the most recent occasion it had more offensive rebounds (23) than tonight.
  • In addition to the bevy of career highs set by Purple Knights, Blake, MacDonough and Scaperrotta all had their first double-doubles, with Scaperrotta two assists short of the ninth triple-double in program history.

THE ACTION

  • Up 6-5 a little more than three minutes into the first quarter, Saint Michael's rattled off an 11-0 run, with MacDonough scoring the first four points and Anderson the next five.
  • The Bobcats cut their deficit to 17-11 on Roberts' two free throws at 9:03 of the second period, but the Purple Knights responded with a 22-4 run and led 39-15 by the time Anderson dropped in a putback at 58 seconds. Anderson scored 10 points to lead five scorers in the stretch, and Saint Michael's led 41-18 at halftime on Kapral's buzzer-beating lay-in.
  • Bryant & Stratton - Albany rallied to within 50-36 on a Roberts lay-up at 3:53 of the third quarter before the Purple and Gold pulled away with 18 of the next 20 points, going ahead 68-38 on Blake's bucket at 8:20 of the fourth stanza. Blake netted eight of her team's points in that time. The hosts never again led by fewer than 28 points.
