COLCHESTER, Vt. - A pair of Saint Michael's College softball players earned Northeast-10 All-Conference accolades as the teams were announced on Friday.

Junior Casey Brooks (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) earned First Team honors at second base. A First Team honoree as a freshman and a Third Team recipient last year, Brooks currently leads the NE-10 with a .364 batting average, and is also in the league's top-10 in triples (tied for third, program record four), base hits (tied for fifth, program record 52), on-base percentage (sixth, .422), total bases (tied for sixth, 75), stolen bases (tied for sixth, 13), hit by pitch (tied for sixth, four), runs scored (tied for seventh, 29), and slugging percentage (10th, .524). In addition to her base hits and triples total, Brooks also matched the single-season program record with nine doubles while starting all 42 games this spring.

Sophomore Maggie Russell (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) received Third Team honors as an outfielder. Russell finished only behind Brooks among Purple Knight regulars this season with a .310 batting average and 10 stolen bases (tied for 10th in the NE-10). Russell started all 42 games in center field this spring, committed just one error, and struck out just 12 times in 113 at bats (lowest strikeout total among regular starters on the team).

Saint Michael's finished the 2006 season with an 18-24 record, totaling the third-most wins in a season in program history.
