Pair of Second-Half Strikes Push Men's Soccer Past Roberts Wesleyan, 2-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Senior Isaiah McCaskill (Springfield, Mass./Springfield Renaissance School/Becker) and first-year Amos Schramm (Sagard, Mecklenburg-Pomerania, Germany/Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium) scored second-half markers to lift the Saint Michael's College men's soccer team past Roberts Wesleyan College, 2-0, during its season finale on Wednesday at Roberts Wesleyan Stadium.

THE ACTION

  • Loft dove to deny senior Marc-Anthony Blackburn's header out front during a corner kick sequence in the 14th minute before sliding down to stop Blackburn's 35th-minute free kick, and senior Ryan Curtis sent a point-blank follow-up bid over the net.
  • Loft made another diving save in the 45th minute on senior Dylan Ruiz's drive, leading to a corner kick, and Ruiz headed the ensuing entry pass over the crossbar from out front.
  • The Purple Knights broke the deadlock in the 51st minute. Senior Kenny Cesar (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Pope Francis) crossed from the right flank into the box over a leaping McCaskill, where a Redhawk tried heading the ball clear, but it ended up on the right foot of Schramm, who quickly switched to his left and slipped a shot inside the right post at 50:51.
  • McCaskill doubled the lead at 63:14, with Goodrich's long ball over the top being headed backwards by a Redhawk, and McCaskill played it off one bounce, with Gibbons charging from his net, and tallied past a sliding Roberts Wesleyan field player.
