Men's Lacrosse Suffers Road Defeat at Nationally-Regarded Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team lost a 12-5 decision to nationally-regarded Bentley University on Saturday at Bentley Field in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Falcons are receiving votes toward both national polls while sitting fourth in the latest New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) rankings.

  • The Purple Knights held decisive advantages in shots (40-31), ground balls (34-25) and faceoffs (14-7) while committing only one more turnover (15) than Bentley (14). Saint Michael's was 21-for-22 on clears while limiting the Falcons to a 21-for-28 showing.
  • Richmond broke Jeff Disa's '02 school record for career faceoff victories (266), ending the day with 278.
  • Loughlin pushed his career point total to 151, leapfrogging Rick Saba '92 (150) for third in program history.


  • Bentley netted the game's first six goals during a 7:40 stretch during the first quarter, as six different Falcons scored. Brooks and Fricke both had two points in the run.
  • Lockwood converted Loughlin's pass at 12:39 of the second quarter to get the visitors on the board.
  • Fricke countered 1:25 later, kicking off a 5-0 Falcon run that gave the hosts an 11-1 edge by 12:06 of the third.
  • Saint Michael's ended the game on a 4-1 run, with Gerardi playing a hand in three of the goals, including scoring two. McGuirk and Loughlin netted the other two tallies 43 seconds apart.
