COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey junior Matt Schreiner (Falmouth, Mass./Walpole Express) and sophomore Marshall Murphy (Little Canada, Minn./Northern Colorado Eagles) were both named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 13.
Schreiner, who landed on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this year, went 16-for-18 on faceoffs while finishing plus-1 in the Purple Knights' 3-2 win over Stonehill College on Tuesday at Norwich University. With Saint Michael's clinging to a one-goal lead after the Skyhawks scored 4:16 into the third period, Schreiner won four of his final six faceoffs while helping the Purple and Gold control possession en route to not allowing another shot on goal. He has three goals and seven assists this winter while leading the Purple Knights with 185 faceoff wins at a team-leading 63.6% clip.
Murphy made 19 saves while allowing just two power-play goals in the 3-2 win against Stonehill last Tuesday. He stands third in the NE10 in goals-against average (2.93) and save percentage (.909) while going 5-5 in 10 games, all starts. In league play alone, Murphy has a .918 save percentage, just .001 off the NE10 lead. Murphy claimed his fourth weekly NE10 accolade, having also been named Goalie of the Week three times.
Now 6-12 overall and 6-8 in the NE10, the Purple Knights complete the regular season with a pair of road contests against Stonehill College on Friday and Saturday.
