  • Flack posted his fourth career two-goal game, with one coming in each of his four seasons of action. He pushed past the 50-point plateau (51) during the contest.

  • Sophomore Alex Dalton (Andover, Mass./Valley Jr. Warriors) registered his first career point, an assist, in his second game.

THE ACTION

  • Flack scored twice in the opening 5:33 to stake the Purple Knights to an early lead. After making a nice move around a defender in the left circle, he deked Howard out front before finishing at 2:55. DeCristoforo and Macijauskas assisted.
  • A little more than two minutes later, Dalton's hard pass from the blue line toward the crease was corralled by Flack, who backhanded a shot past the netminder from up close at 5:33. Johnson added an assist.
  • Turcotte maintained the 2-0 lead by denying three straight Saint Anselm bids around 7:15, including stopping the final two point-blank tries by Andary and junior Matt Hayes.
  • Murphy got one goal back for the Hawks during a power play at 3:50 of the second period, blasting a shot from the blue line.
  • Howard made a nice glove save of senior Matt Egan's (Hingham, Mass./Kimball Union Academy) one-timer out front at 9:10.
  • Saint Michael's carried a 2-1 edge into the third period after sophomore TJ Beaver (Enfield, N.H./Proctor Academy) blocked junior Chris Lemay's clean one-timer at the right post around 15:00.
  • Howard's flailing blocker save denied Johnson during a power play at 13:30 of the final stanza, and Cordeiro leveled the teams with 14:38 gone, backhanding a shot from the slot.
  • Quick transition by the Purple Knights led to the game-winner, as senior Brandon Mitchell (North Scituate, R.I./Pomfret School) sent a cross-ice pass for junior Matt Schreiner (Falmouth, Mass./Walpole Express), whose feed into the slot was tipped up and in by DeCristoforo at 17:44.
  • Howard was pulled with 1:59 left, but the Hawks sent only one shot on net while holding a 6-on-5 advantage - from Murphy, which Turcotte saved with 38 seconds left - while three Purple Knight skaters blocked shots. Egan dove to glove a loose puck across the blue line with 16 ticks remaining for another key defensive play, as Saint Anselm was never able to reorganize its offense for an attempt at a tying marker.
