Murphy Named NE10 Goalie of the Week, Flack Lands on Weekly Honor Roll

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey sophomore Marshall Murphy (Little Canada, Minn./Northern Colorado Eagles) was named Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 21. Senior Thomas Flack (Toronto, Ontario/Saint Michael's Buzzers) landed on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll.

Murphy made 25 saves in his college debut while allowing only one even-strength goal in a 5-2 win on Friday against Franklin Pierce University. He leads the NE10 in goals-against average (2.01) while taking third in save percentage (.926). Murphy, whose Purple Knights did not play last winter, had last appeared in 2019-20 as a member of the Northern Colorado Eagles of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). Upon his departure, Murphy held WSHL records for career saves (3,373) while standing third in goalie appearances (110).

Flack had a goal and an assist while winning 47.6% (20-for-42) of his faceoffs during a 1-1 weekend. Flack provided the primary assist on the goal that gave Saint Michael's the lead for good at 10:05 of the first period during a 5-2 win on Friday against Franklin Pierce before scoring the game's first goal at 19:18 of the first period in a 4-2 loss to Assumption University on Saturday. A fifth-year member of the program, Flack has 20 goals and 21 assists in 77 career games while winning 335 faceoffs at a 46.1% success rate.

Now 1-1 overall and in the NE10, the Purple Knights visit Amherst College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
