COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey senior Tim Decker (Liverpool, N.Y./Canterbury School) and sophomore Matt Egan (Hingham, Mass./Kimball Union Academy) earned spots on the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Decker posted a .954 save percentage, 1.53 goals-against-average and 31.0 saves per game during a 1-1 week, yielding only one even-strength goal. In a 2-1 loss at Stonehill College on Tuesday, he made 24 stops while allowing two shorthanded markers on breakaways. Decker tallied 38 stops during a 2-1 win at Post University on Friday, keeping the Eagles off the board during 13 power plays.
Decker moved into a tie with Derek Jackson '07 for sixth in program history in career wins (22) while overtaking Mark Crowley '91 (1,200) for 10th in school annals in career saves (1,207). Decker is tied for fourth in the NE10 in GAA (2.90) and fifth in save percentage (.910).
Egan turned in three points while going plus-2 with three blocked shots during a 1-2 week. At Stonehill, he assisted a tying goal while going plus-1 before assisting a third-period go-ahead goal and blocking two shots in a 2-1 victory at Post on Friday. Egan's goal 3:42 into the second period brought the Purple Knights within 2-1 during an eventual setback on Saturday against Post. He added a block. Egan is tied for 16th in the NE10 in assists (9) after handing out four as a rookie. He has 13 points this year, nearly double his first-year total (7).
At 10-8-2 overall and 6-5-1 in the league, the Purple Knights are tied for first place in the NE10 with Assumption College and Saint Anselm College. They return to action on Friday by hosting Saint Anselm at 7 p.m. to open an important two-game weekend series.
