Gardner Claims Second Straight NE10 Weekly Honor Roll Selection

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball senior Patrick Gardner (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun/Nassau CC) landed on the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 21, claiming the accolade for the second consecutive week.

Gardner scored 23 points with 11 rebounds and five blocks in 27 minutes during a 72-69 loss to regionally-ranked Stonehill College on Saturday. He finished 7-for-12 from the floor and 8-of-8 on free throws while drawing nine Skyhawk fouls. Gardner's five blocks were the most by a Purple Knight since Morrell Gaskins '16 also rejected five shots on Dec. 2, 2015, versus former NE10 mate Merrimack College.

Gardner is second in the NE10 in both rebounding (11.0) and blocks (2.7) while taking third in offensive boards (3.7). The 6-foot-10 forward is also tied for seventh in scoring (18.0), connecting on 51.4% of his field goal tries and 81.3% of his free throw attempts. He is 15th in Division II in rejections and 16th in rebounding, taking third in the NCAA East Region in both while ranking fourth regionally in offensive rebounding.

Prior to joining the Saint Michael's men's basketball program in 2020-21, Gardner scored 1,055 points in 68 career games at Nassau (N.Y.) Community College. In 2019-20, he was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III All-America third team after averaging 18.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.1 steals. The versatile post shot 49.7% from the floor while stepping out to hit 43 three-pointers, and was successful on 83.5% of his free throw attempts.

At 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the NE10, the Purple Knights break from league play by competing in Gannon (Pa.) University's Gary Miller Classic on Friday and Saturday. Saint Michael's opens against Concord (W.Va.) University on day one at 5:30 p.m.
