KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team wrapped up play at the Kutztown University Invitational on Sunday with a 3-1 loss to Mansfield (Pa.) University in Andre Reed Stadium.

GAME FACTS

  • Lord scored her first college goal.
  • The Purple Knights registered three defensive saves for the first time since Oct. 7, 2017, against Stonehill College. Fenton became the first Saint Michael's player since Claire Scherf '20, in that contest, to post two defensive stops.

THE ACTION

  • The Purple Knights had the first scoring opportunity of the game, as sophomore Abby Farrington (Bennington, Vt./Burr and Burton Academy) was stopped by Lewis during a penalty corner sequence in the fifth minute.
  • O'Connor made three saves during a shutout opening frame and added two more stops early in the second, while Shapiro picked up a defensive save in the 16th minute.
  • The Mountaineers struck on a quick counterattack in the 19th minute, with Robertson receiving Esterling's cross and firing a shot off of O'Connor's pad and in.
  • Fenton nearly tied the game in the 24th minute but rung the post.
  • Amid a corner play in the 38th minute, Robertson redirected junior Saramae Radel's pass beyond a diving Fenton and across the goal line.
  • Esterling backhanded a shot past O'Connor in the 42nd minute off of a scramble in front.
  • The Purple Knights broke into the scoring column at 50:56, with sophomore Bridgie Loughlin (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) taking Lord's corner entry and passing deep for Richard, who swept the ball toward the left post, where Lord finished.
