Baseball Swept by Regionally-Ranked Franklin Pierce During NE10 Twinbill

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team hung with regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University while losing twice on Thursday, 7-0 and 4-0 in seven innings, during Northeast-10 Conference play at Doc Jacobs Field. The Purple Knights outhit the Ravens in game two, as the visitors were sixth in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and NCAA East Region rankings.

  • Saint Michael's was narrowly edged in hits, 17-15, while a trio of pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts to the Ravens' 11.
  • The Purple Knights held Franklin Pierce well below its scoring average (7.6), which was good for fourth in the region, and under its batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, each of which was among the top 10 in the region entering the day.
  • Sophomore Jared Duquette (Morrisonville, N.Y./Saranac) tossed his fourth complete game of the season, matching Curt Echo '16 in 2015 for the most by a Purple Knight since 2007, when Billy Gamache '07 had five and Mike Robert '10 eight.
